Christmas Sparkle

I love London at Christmas. It’s not as flashy as Christmas in New York – nothing can beat a tour of their incredible department store windows – but the streets take on an unrivalled Dickensian charm as the darkness descends, the fog rolls in and the lights begin to sparkle along the rooftops. Being crushed amidst the crowds of shoppers and tourists doesn’t seem so bad when you have beautiful lights to admire above your head. I have picked some of my favourite photos of my tours of London Christmas lights over the past few weeks for your viewing pleasure, and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

As well as the lights, one of my favourite Christmas things about working in London is the train and tube stations! There’s always music, choirs, singers, string quartets etc on the station concourses and tunnels – it helps lighten the mood on the way to work every day, but it’s especially great at Christmas!

    1. bookssnob says:

I know, aren’t they brilliant? I miss the ‘advice’ the tube workers used to write on information boards at Angel station – it always cheered me up after a long day!

The Covent Garden shot looks so cosy! A coffee table book of London porn was one of my favourite gifts this year and as you know, I never get enough of that!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Rachel.

Thanks Darlene! Hope you managed to survive Christmas in the cold! You are overdue for another visit, I think…next year maybe? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Truth: I love New York, but London at Christmas is where my heart’s at. The lights on the South Bank make me so happy I almost start crying.
